CLYMACT: 20–22 October, European dialogue on food poverty and waste, and signing of the twinning pre-agreement between Unione Reno Galliera and Mislata (Spain)

After the meeting held in Mislata (Spain), focused on sustainable mobility and taking place from 2 to 5 June 2025, the European project CLYMACT  – Youth and Local Authorities for Climate Action continues with a new stage in Italy.

From 20 to 22 October 2025, Unione Reno Galliera is hosting partners and youth delegations from across Europe for an international dialogue on the theme of food poverty. The aim is to share experiences, identify good practices, and promote new local alliances against food waste and inequalities in food access.

The CLYMACT project is funded by the European CERV programme – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values, and aims to build a stable network of collaboration between young people (18–30 years old) and local administrations to jointly address major environmental challenges: sustainable mobility, food and energy poverty, waste management, and climate change mitigation.

Each stage of the project focuses on a specific theme. This time, Unione Reno Galliera is the host, offering three days of workshops, thematic roundtables, and local visits, with the active involvement of youth delegations and local institutions (a detailed programme is attached).

During this stage, a twinning pre-agreement was also signed between Unione Reno Galliera and the city of Mislata, in the presence of the Spanish mayor Carlos Fernández Bielsa — a concrete step toward future long-term cooperation between the two municipalities.

The project will continue with its third stage in Greece, from 24 to 27 November 2025, focusing on energy poverty. In 2026, three more transnational events will take place: Bilbao (Spain) in early March, Podstrana (Croatia) in June, and Zugló–Budapest (Hungary) in September.

The 22 October session will open with remarks from Franco Cima, Metropolitan Councillor of Bologna with responsibility for European affairs, followed in the afternoon by greetings from Federica Mazzoni, President of the Council of the Navile District of Bologna.

In total, CLYMACT includes six in-person events and two online sessions, complemented by local activities in each participating territory.

At the end of each meeting, a thematic report will be published as part of the public archive of proposals, experiences, and recommendations that will form the lasting legacy of the project.
